Interesting Facts about Cave Creek:

  • Cave Creek was originally a resting spot for soldiers sent from Fort McDowell to control the Tonto Apaches.
  • The first Cave Creek schoolhouse was established in 1886.
  • The town was a recreational supply base during the building of the Bartlett and Roosevelt dams in the 1930's- and took on a rowdier crow that supported the local saloons.
  • The town is named after a small creek that runs from a cave like opening south of town some 25 miles toward Paradise Valley.
